What is mulch?

    Is a covering.on the ground around plants to prevent excessive evaporation or erosion, enrich the soil, inhibit weed growth, and to beautify the area.

Why use mulch?

    Other than inhancing the beauty of your landscape, when mulch is applied correctly, it sreates a natural weed barrier, inhances soil, controls erosion, and helps control the climate of your plants.

Why mulch is best?

    Depending on where you are applying the mulch and what you are using the mulch specifically for will vary the results you get from using mulch.  When using mulch such as pine nuggets, mini chips, or colored mulch to admit air movement would be wet and poorly drained areas.  Mulches that retain moisture are triple ground and shredded hardwood bark and should be applied to dry and sandy areas. 

 

What are compost benefits?

  • Compost has the ability to rejuvenate poor soils.

  • Compost acts as a component that helps clean up contaminated soils. 

  • Gives the soil the nutrients that it is lacking.

  • Conserves water in soils. 

  • Erosion deterent.

  • Reduces the need for fertilizers and pesticides.
